Many people including myself have multiple accounts with gmail, and like to run them all with some cookie fix plugins in the browser mostly Fire Fox. But what about GTalk (Google Talk) !
No need of worry people, here is way to goof around and open more than one GTalk Clients with only installation. It is very easy and hopefully works with anybody. Remember it is not a patch or instead a little trick.

What to Do?

No with with no hack or trick you can sign-in with multiple accounts with Google Labs Edition.

We will only be adding (/nomutex) in to the shortcut from where you open your GTalk.

To do so simply follow these simple steps.

  • Select shortcut, Right click it and select Properties
  • Now go to Shortcut Tab
  • There you will see Target, in which location of your original setup installation is displayed and written.
It would be something like this “C:Program FilesGoogleGoogle Talkgoogletalk.exe”
  • Now simply add (/nomutex) at the end of the written location, only text inside brackets, like this
    “C:Program FilesGoogleGoogle Talkgoogletalk.exe” /nomutex
  • Here you are done, now simply click on Apply and OK button.

client Open Multiple GTalk Clients Without Any Patch

If you want to create a seperate shortcut, then simply create new short and repeat the following step. Remember you just have edit and (/nomutex) in target location of the shortcut.

Now try to open Multiple GTalk Clients and enjoy using your all accounts at the same time.

    Hi!

This does not work! I am not sure what you mean by “Select Shortcut”. I use Windows XP GERMAN, so the names of the commands are different and English instructions are not very helpful for me. However I use Ghisler’s Total Commander to navigate around my computer, rename files, etc. I have tried to rename the file C:\Programme\Google\GoogleTalk\googletalk.exe into C:\Programme\Google\GoogleTalk\googletalk.exe/nomutex, and the answer was “Error, cannot write c:\Programme\Google\GoogleTalk\googletalk.exe/nomutex, please remove write protection.” When I have a look at the file properties, though, write protection is unchecked. Any suggestions?

Postscript: It doesn’t work with GoogleTalk Portable either, same error, though the files are definitely NOT write protected.
