Ever heard of any Operating System(OS) for Muslims, or even a Muslim edition to reckon only for Muslims, surely not. World is changing so as the many trends including the emerge of a Muslim edition of popular Open Source Linux OS Ubuntu with the name Ubuntu ME ( Muslim Edition), that is why Open Source rocks.

This edition is sole work out of the Muslim volunteers and Ubuntu Linux officials, where credit goes to Muslim volunteers for initiating such project and getting approved and support by the official team.

Ubuntu ME has some really decent feature every Muslim family need on their PC’s.

Like it includes:

• WebStrict, it is a perental control tool to browse the Internet safely, fortunately this application is enabled by defalult.
• Zekr, this app is still in its development but with high motives to serve users to study Quran. It can be configured to play Quran recitations as mentioned by the user, like any other Media Player in usual Windows OS.
  • Recitation can also be downloaded from www.versebyversequran.com, of Muhammad Siddeeq al-Minshawi, Huzify, Sa’ad al-Ghamadi, and Mishary Rashed Alafasy.
• Minbar and Firefox ‘Pray Times’ addon is also pre-installed to remind the pray timing according to your locality and TimeZone. It can also be configured easily.
• Monajat, an excellent tool to display the Islamic Prayers
• Thwab, an Islamic encyclopedia for Muslim Learners.
• UbuntuME has all the artworks of its interface of Muslim theme, including usplash, login screen, Islamic wallpapers, themes and much more.
• Original DVD is loaded with the basic multimedia and usual softwares and mini application for all needs out there for a Muslim user.
